  1. I keep getting errors after I try to run the game, telling me that there’s a missing file, the latest one being libssl.so.1.0.0 I then download the file, and then there’s just another one that’s missing…so clearly there’s a prerequisite to run these games that wasn’t made clear before. An application, which I thought was Steam which has to be on the PC to ensure that all these libs are present and accounted for before you try and run the game.

    1. with linux games there is a lot of dependencies , i mention them when they are written on the steam page. I usually have all dependencies on my arch linux already from previous games, look up for solutions in steam forums etc , since the dev himself hasn’t mentioned required dependencies

      1. Segmentation fault (core dumped)

That’s what I get when all the dependencies are installed. I downloaded 3 games, and they all give me some kind of segmentation error message now…so bummed out…

        1. Nevermind…just figures it out. I kept on using sudo ./start.sh when trying to start the game, when all I needed to do was to use ./start.sh without the sudo command.

          1. use chmod +x to the file name i.e shart.sh to make it executable and then run by double clicking it , for sound you must be missing some alsa drivers or stuff

  2. Execelent, downloading already, is there a possiblility to get the last Reapers Due expansion?

  3. Will the Reaper Due expansion be added ? What about the Rights of Man for EU4 ?

  4. Hi all,

Thanks for the release. I encountered the missing libraries and installed them.

But now I get a segmentation fault (core dumped) error when launching from konsole. I tried chmod +x which made start.sh as an executable but it doesn’t launch either.

I updated all including dist-upgrade and rebooted but nothing changes.

    Any idea ?

    Thanks for the help !

    1. i actually have no idea because i seem to have all dependencies installed on my arch system from other game installs, the dev for this game himself hasn’t provided the libs required to play the game as you can see from my first comment. try browsing steam forum for a possible solution. Regards !

  5. Hi again,

Well ldd ./start.sh and ldd ck2 both say I have all libraries. Trouble is therefore not the library itself but the pointer inside the program.

It seems that segmentation fault means the following : “Segmentation fault is caused by a bug in the application. Technically it means that application try to read or write to part of memory that doesn’t belongs to it (or doesn’t exist). It’s of course forbidden to read or write to somebody else’s memory and when system (kernel) detects this, it will force the application to quit.”

Running gdb ( a debugging tool) gives the following :
    “Starting program: /home/user/Téléchargements/crusader2_linux/CK2/ck2
    [Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled]
    Using host libthread_db library “/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libthread_db.so.1″.

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.”

/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libthread_db.so.1 exists. So it seems this bug would be 1) a null pointer 2) a stackoverflow. Anyway either memory access is denied, doesn’t exit or is destroyed by overwriting.

All forum say “wait for the next build” or “if it’s your program, you have to rewrite it”. Beyond that I admit I lack the knowledge to understand most of the proposed solutions in debugging the program rewriting the code.

    Thanks again for your help

    1. the devs aren’t paying too much attention to the linux port of the game frankly. Steam os did push a lot of games for linux but the commitment of devs is still the same. Hope it improves in future.

I completely agree with this – “Beyond that I admit I lack the knowledge to understand most of the proposed solutions in debugging the program rewriting the code. “

  6. Hi Penguin

the libssl problem drove me crazy for long weeks now and only today i found a solution and i want to share it with you.

yet i want to warn you in advance that the libssl1.0.0.0 library is defective and a security threat….so proceed at your own risk

1- download the libssl1.0.0.0 package from here

    https://packages.debian.org/jessie/i386/libssl1.0.0/download

2- use your archive manager to open the deb file….and extract the contents of the data.xyz to any temp directory

3- copy the two files from the extracted archive to the lib directory
    sudo cp ~/tmp/data/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libssl.so.1.0.0 /lib
    sudo cp ~/tmp/data/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libcrypto.so.1.0.0 /lib

    4- start the game

that was the steps i followed…and finally the game is working now!

    hope it helps
